Three Cups of Tea

Author: Greg Mortenson and Oliver Relin
Rating: 3.5 stars

Three Cups of Tea relates the fascinating story Greg Mortenson, an unlikely hero who set out on a quest to use education to uplift the rural poor of Pakistan. With each chapter, readers are acquainted not only with Mortenson's extraordinary character and experiences, but also with the religion, culture, economics and socio-political conditions of modern Pakistan.

The book adopts certain views regarding religion, society and education that I strongly disagree with. That's obviously a minus for the book on my rating scale. Nevertheless, it's a well-written and account of an inspiring and challenging story. I give Three Cups of Tea three-and-a-half stars.

Where to get it: If you want a hard copy, you'll have to order it from the States. Otherwise, you can buy the e-book (between $7 and $16, depending on the site and the format).
